The last twenty years have seen the emergence of a global paradigm in medieval studies. This paradigm, called the Global Middle Ages, encourages us to frame our study of the Middle Ages in terms of vectors and patterns of change. In this session, the presenter (an academic medievalist) will introduce the paradigm, show how it aligns with the 2021 NC Social Studies Standards (especially the world history standards), and share resources for teaching it.
