This interactive session demonstrates how storytelling and podcasting can transform social studies classrooms into spaces for cultural exploration, critical thinking, and student agency. Participants will engage in a storying activity using personal artifacts to explore values, culture, and identity, fostering empathy and appreciation of lived experiences. Real-world stories of immigrant students and teachers will highlight the power of narratives in social studies education. Modeling GenAI podcasting as a collaborative tool to synthesize stories, participants will learn strategies for fostering community and shared identity. Attendees will leave with practical strategies and resources to integrate storytelling and podcasting into their K-12 social studies classrooms.
