About me
Phylisha Sanders has dedicated herself to becoming a life-long educator and learner. A native of North Carolina, she became a middle school social studies teacher after graduating from North Carolina Central University. In her role as a classroom teacher, she was selected to serve in a number of diverse leadership roles at the district level, including District Chairperson of Middle School Social Studies. During her 12 year tenure, she completed her Master’s Degree in School Administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. As an avid learner, she has done further studies at Harvard University and is currently apart of the Haitian Fellowship through the Consortium in Latin American and Caribbean Studies at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Duke University. Phylisha Sanders is currently a K-12 Social Studies Consultant in the Standards, Curriculum, and Instruction Division at the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction.
